光希まさとの創造の世界へようこそ！

つれづれなるままに、硯にむかひて、心に移りゆくよしなし事を、そこはかとなく書きつくれば、あやしうこそものぐるほしけれ。

この国の歴史は、まことに深きものなり。皇紀二千六百八十五年の歳月は、世界に類を見ぬ永きものにて、その重みは計り知れず。されど、昨秋パリに遊びし折、西洋の歴史の深さにも心打たれしことよ。

ノートルダム大聖堂の尖塔は、まるで天を突き刺さんばかりの気高さにて、人の信仰の力の偉大さを物語るが如し。その内なるステンドグラスの輝きは、幾百年もの時を超えて、今なお人々の心を魅了し続くるなり。

西洋の芸術に心惹かれしとて、わが国の美を忘れたるにはあらず。むしろ、異なる文化に触れることにより、日本の四季の移ろいの繊細さ、和の心の深さを、より一層強く感じるものなり。

ああ、されば身体二つあらましかば、パリの街にても、京の都にても、同時に美を愛でることも叶うものを。されど、この思いこそが、人の心を豊かにするものなれば、今はただ感謝して、両方の美を心に刻まん。

Essays in Idleness – Modern Chapter “Two Lights”

As I sit here with my inkstone, letting my brush flow freely with whatever thoughts pass through my mind, how curious it all seems.

The history of this land runs unfathomably deep. The imperial calendar counting 2,685 years is unparalleled in the world, its weight immeasurable. Yet, during my visit to Paris last autumn, I was equally moved by the depth of Western history.

Notre-Dame Cathedral’s spires reach toward heaven with such nobility, telling the story of humanity’s powerful faith. The radiance of its stained glass, transcending centuries, continues to captivate hearts even today.

Though my heart is drawn to Western art, I have not forgotten the beauty of my own country. Rather, encountering different cultures has made me more keenly aware of the delicacy of Japan’s changing seasons and the depth of its harmonious spirit.

Ah, if only I had two bodies, I could appreciate beauty simultaneously in the streets of Paris and in the capital of Kyoto. Yet perhaps it is this very yearning that enriches the human heart, and so I shall gratefully engrave both forms of beauty in my soul.
