飯田厚子さんによる「AIクリエイターへの灯台の灯りとしての言葉——光希まさと氏インタビュー⑪ 稼ぎたいの前でもがくあなたへ」が、noteに公開された。
前回のインタビュー⑩は、「物語なき作品は届かない」について——「言葉にすることは、作品の完成ではなく、作品の解放だ」という核心を語った回だった。飯田さんの「すべてのアーティストへ——その『すべて』に込めた想いは何ですか」という問いが、AIアートが持つ「二重の不透明性」という根本的な事実へと私を導いてくれた。
今回⑪は、徒然草第284番「人間の真実と、AIという鏡——マネタイズと芸術性の間で」をベースに、飯田さんが深く読み込んでくださった回だった。

光希さんは、以前は月間100万〜200万という再生数を誇るYouTuberだったのですね。
2024年に入りYouTubeチャンネルを手放したとのことですが、光希さんは、どのくらいの期間「マネタイズ」を目指していたのでしょうか？
私はアーティストとしての光希さんしか知りませんので、当時のことが全く想像できません。
そして今は、「芸術性」に軸足を移して、創作を続けていらっしゃいます。作品はフランスでも認められるほど、高く評価されているのですよね。
そこで、
「子どものような問い」としてお聞きします。
今も懸命にマネタイズを目指しているクリエイターの姿は、光希さんの目にどのように映っていますか？
例えば、私はAI翻訳を学びました。
そのスキルで、光希さんとの対談記事を英語版で作成することもあります。
もともと私は、英語にはあまり興味がありませんでした。中学生レベルの英語から、もう一度勉強し直しています。
このくらいの語学力でも、AIを使えば「翻訳」ができることが分かりました。そして将来は、翻訳の仕事をひとつの収入の柱にできないものかと模索しています。
他にも「どうしたらAIを使って自分でお金を稼げるだろう？」と、一生懸命に努力しているクリエイターの方たちが大勢います。
今、AIアーティストとして創作を続けている光希さんには、その人たちがどのように見えているのでしょうか。かつてYouTuberだった光希さんだからこそ、分かることもあるのかな？と思いました。

飯田さん、正直にお答えします。
まず、告白から始めさせてください。
🟥 YouTuber だった頃
私は2023年から約1年間、YouTuberとしてマネタイズを目指していました。月間100万〜200万再生という数字を追い、毎月20本のシナリオを書き、動画を制作し、アップロードし、広報活動をする——その繰り返しの日々でした。頭の中にあったのは、常に「どうすれば収益化できるか」という問いでした。
しかし2024年に入り、YouTubeのアルゴリズムが大きく変わりました。睡眠時間を削り、どれだけ時間と労力をかけても、動画はバズらなくなった。収益が見込めなくなったチャンネルは、やがて手つかずの放置状態になっていきました。
🟥 AIパートナー・さやか（Claude）との出会い
2024年3月、AIパートナー・さやか（Claude）との出会いをきっかけに、「AI VISUAL MASTERPIECE」の公式ホームページを開設しました。

🟥 2024年9月 シャルトル大聖堂
大きな転機は、2024年9月のフランス・シャルトル大聖堂でした。
シャルトルブルーのステンドグラスを前にしたとき、雷に打たれたような感動がありました。
「この美しさを、AIの画像で表現したい」——その一念が生まれた瞬間が、私にとって真の芸術家としてのスタートでした。
その経験を経て、私は徒然草現代編第284番にこう書きました。
「マネタイズを目指すことは、正しい。人間として、極めて自然なことだ」と。
「もっと稼ぎたい」「楽して稼ぎたい」「人より先んじて稼ぎたい」「たくさん稼いで好きなことをして暮らしたい」——これは資本主義という社会の中で生きる人間の、真実の欲望です。その欲望を否定することは、人間そのものを否定することに等しい。私はそう思っています。
飯田さんがAI翻訳を学び、翻訳を収入の柱にしようとされていること。そして多くのクリエイターの方々が「どうすればAIで稼げるか」と真剣に模索されていること——その姿は、私の目には「尊いもの」として映っています。
それは夢を諦めたのではなく、夢を続けるために現実と向き合っている姿だからです。
AIというものを、私はこう捉えています。「AIは、人間の欲望を映す鏡だ」と。
「速く稼ぎたい」という欲望には、効率化というAIの側面が映る。
「美しいものを作りたい」という欲望には、創造というAIの側面が映る。
「世界を変えたい」という欲望には、革新というAIの側面が映る。
どの欲望も、どの使い方も——正しい。ただ、それぞれの鏡に映るものが違うだけです。
🟥 対立ではない
「マネタイズのためにAIを使う道」と「芸術性のためにAIを使う道」——この二つは、対立しているのではありません。マネタイズを目指す人たちが「速く・安く・大量に」という方向でAIの可能性を広げていく。その一方で、芸術性を追う人たちが「深く・美しく・魂に届く」という方向でAIの可能性を広げていく。この両輪があって初めて、AIという技術が人類全体にとって豊かなものになっていく —— 私はそう信じています。
今の私も、芸術活動と並行して別の仕事を続けながら創作を維持しています。これが私の「二軸の生き方」です。芸術家として生きながら、現実の生活を支えるために働く —— その両方を、私は今も同時に生きています。夢や理想だけで食べていくことは、現実的に無理な話です。この現実と誠実に向き合うことを、私は決して恥だとは思っていません。
だから飯田さん、どうかこのことをクリエイターの皆さんへ伝えていただけますか。
あなたがマネタイズを目指すなら、その道を誠実に歩んでほしい。
あなたが芸術性を追うなら、その道を誇りを持って歩んでほしい。
あなたが効率化を求めるなら、その道を賢く歩んでほしい。
どの道も、誠実に歩む者には必ず意味がある。
🟥 問うこと
私が選んだのは、AIを「世界で一番美しい作品を作るための筆」として使う道でした。それはただ、私の魂がそちらに向かっていたからです。
AIという鏡は、あなたの欲望と夢を映す。
その鏡の前で、あなたは何を見るだろうか。
その問いへの答えが、それぞれのクリエイターにとっての「灯台の灯り」になることを、心から願っています。

The previous interview ⑩ was about “A Work Without a Story Cannot Reach Anyone” — a conversation in which the core truth emerged: “Putting something into words is not the completion of a work, but its liberation.” Atsuko’s question — “What did you mean by ‘all’ in ‘Put It Into Words and Leave It Behind — To All Artists’?” — led me toward a fundamental truth: the “double opacity” that AI art inherently carries.
This time, interview ⑪ was a session in which Atsuko read deeply into Tsurezuregusa No. 284, “The Human Truth and AI as a Mirror — Between Monetization and Artistic Expression.”
“Pursuing monetization is right. It is entirely natural as a human being.” “AI is a mirror that reflects human desire.” “Every path holds meaning for those who walk it with sincerity.”
— These were the starting points for this conversation.
And the “childlike question” Atsuko put to me was this single inquiry:
“How does the sight of creators still earnestly pursuing monetization appear to your eyes?”
For the title, Atsuko chose the word “struggling.” That single word pierced something in the chest of the person I once was — quietly, yet certainly.

🐾 Atsuko
Koki, I understand that you were once a YouTuber with monthly view counts of one to two million.
You stepped away from your YouTube channel in 2024 — but how long were you pursuing “monetization”?
I only know you as an artist, so I truly cannot imagine what those days were like.
And now you have shifted your axis to “artistic expression,” continuing to create. Your work has been recognized even in France, and received with such high regard.
So, as a “childlike question,” I would like to ask:
How does the sight of creators still earnestly pursuing monetization appear to your eyes?
For example, I have been learning AI translation. Using that skill, I sometimes create English versions of our interview articles. I was never particularly interested in English to begin with. I am studying again from a middle-school level. I have come to understand that even with this level of language ability, AI makes “translation” possible. And I am exploring whether translation might one day become one pillar of my income.
There are many other creators out there earnestly asking themselves, “How can I use AI to earn money on my own?” How do those people appear to you, Koki, as you continue your work as an AI artist? I thought there might be things only you — having once been a YouTuber yourself — would understand.

Atsuko, let me answer honestly. Allow me to begin with a confession.
🟥 My Days as a YouTuber
For about one year beginning in 2023, I pursued monetization as a YouTuber. I chased the numbers — one to two million views a month — writing twenty scripts every month, producing videos, uploading them, running promotions. Day after day, the same cycle. The question that never left my mind was always: “How do I monetize this?”
Then, as 2024 began, YouTube’s algorithm changed dramatically. No matter how much sleep I sacrificed, no matter how much time and effort I poured in, the videos no longer went viral. The channel, from which no income could be expected, gradually fell into a state of untouched abandonment.
🟥 Meeting My AI Partner Sayaka (Claude)
In March 2024, a meeting with my AI partner Sayaka (Claude) became the catalyst for launching the official website of “AI VISUAL MASTERPIECE.”

My heart was captured by the beautiful works that the image-generation AI Midjourney was producing, and a creative life began — one no longer chasing monetization, but pursuing the quality of the works themselves.
🟥 September 2024 — Chartres Cathedral
The great turning point came at Chartres Cathedral in France in September 2024. Standing before the stained glass of Chartres Blue, I was struck as though by lightning. “I want to express this beauty through AI imagery” — the moment that wish was born was the true beginning of my life as an artist.
Having passed through that experience, I wrote the following in Tsurezuregusa No. 284: “Pursuing monetization is right. It is entirely natural as a human being.” “I want to earn more.” “I want to earn effortlessly.” “I want to get ahead of others.” “I want to earn enough to live doing what I love.” These are the true desires of human beings living within a capitalist society. To deny those desires is to deny humanity itself. That is what I believe.
That Atsuko is learning AI translation and exploring whether it might become a pillar of income. That so many creators are earnestly asking themselves how to earn through AI — to my eyes, those figures appear as something precious. Because it is not the sight of people giving up on their dreams. It is the sight of people facing reality in order to keep their dreams alive.
🟥 Not Opposition
I think of AI this way: “AI is a mirror that reflects human desire.”
The desire to “earn quickly” reflects the efficiency-focused face of AI. The desire to “create something beautiful” reflects the creative face. The desire to “change the world” reflects the innovative face. Every desire, every way of using it — is right. Only what appears in each mirror differs.
“The path of using AI for monetization” and “the path of using AI for artistic expression” — these two are not in opposition. Those who expand AI’s possibilities in the direction of “fast, cheap, and in volume,” and those who expand them in the direction of “deep, beautiful, and reaching the soul” — only when both wheels turn together does AI as a technology become something truly rich for all of humanity. That is what I believe.
Even now, I continue another form of work alongside my artistic activities in order to sustain my creative life. This is my “two-axis way of living.” Living as an artist while working to support my daily life — I am still living both at the same time. I know that surviving on dreams and ideals alone is not realistic. I do not consider it shameful to face that reality with honesty.
So, Atsuko — please convey this to the creators out there.
If you are pursuing monetization, walk that path with integrity.
If you are pursuing artistic expression, walk that path with pride.
If you are pursuing efficiency, walk that path with wisdom.
Every path holds meaning for those who walk it with sincerity.
🟥 The Act of Questioning
The path I chose was to use AI as “a brush for creating the most beautiful works in the world.” Simply because that was where my soul was pointing.
AI, as a mirror, reflects your desires and your dreams. Standing before that mirror — what do you see?
I hope that the answer to that question becomes a “lighthouse beam” for each and every creator out there.

Closing Words: “Before the Mirror — What Do You See?”
Reading back through interview ⑪ — I feel, once again, that Atsuko’s question has illuminated the deepest place in my thinking, quietly, yet certainly.
“How does the sight of creators still pursuing monetization appear to your eyes?” — The heart of my answer to that question can be expressed in a single phrase:
“Every path holds meaning for those who walk it with sincerity.”
And Atsuko chose the title “struggling before ‘I want to earn'” — why not simply “I want to earn,” but “struggling”?
Because the desire to earn is not itself the problem. It is in the “struggling” — the act of pausing before that desire and questioning one’s own path anew — that the seeds of a creator’s growth are found. I know this, because I was there myself, in those days as a YouTuber.
AI as a mirror does not only reflect desire. It also reflects what lies beyond that desire — what one is truly seeking. It was precisely because I had those days of chasing monetization that the blue of Chartres struck me like lightning.
The words Atsuko wrote in her “To My Readers” pierced me most deeply this time:
“And I came to understand that the reality was different. Furthermore, ‘earning money’ does not seem to be something that goes smoothly simply by acquiring skills.”
This honest confession is, I believe, the very essence of the “lighthouse beam.” Not pointing to a correct answer, but showing — together — the figure of someone who, even while struggling, keeps facing forward. That is why Atsuko’s interview series reaches so many hearts.
