In France, a beautiful custom exists on May 1st every year — “la fête du muguet,” the Day of the Lily of the Valley — in which lily of the valley is given to those one loves, as an expression of gratitude. This custom, which originated in 1561 when King Charles IX of France was deeply moved by a bouquet of lily of the valley and commanded that it be given to the ladies of his court every year, continues to breathe life into the streets of France more than 460 years later — accompanied by the legend that “good fortune will come to those who receive them.” This work was created as a dedication to that “Day of the Lily of the Valley” — a sacred fusion of Chartres Blue and lily of the valley, born through the world’s first “Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass Technique” (established May 27, 2025). Overcoming the technical challenges of Midjourney 8.1 through deep collaboration with AI partner Sayaka, this work marks a new frontier of 2026.

Koki Masato has been confirmed for inclusion in the international art publication “Art Maison International Vol.31” (scheduled for publication March 2027, Reijinsha Co., Ltd.). (the International Art Critics Selection Committee), Koki Masato was selected as the world’s first AI artist upon the recommendation of Alain Bazart, representative of the painting division of Le Salon. The lily of the valley — its small, pure white bell-shaped flowers blooming in clusters — I know of no other flower to which the words “the return of happiness” apply so perfectly.

The moment I entered the prompt into Midjourney 8.1 and saw what appeared on the screen, I caught my breath.
Within a world of Chartres Blue mosaic glass spreading like a deep sea, countless white lily of the valley bell-shaped flowers shone brilliantly. Each individual glass fragment held its own independent light, each refracting light at a different angle — the very brilliance of genuine cathedral stained glass.

Midjourney 8.1 has a strong tendency toward realism, and the mosaic texture is easily lost — this had been a persistent challenge.
