つれづれなるままに、硯にむかひて、心に移りゆくよしなし事を、そこはかとなく書きつくれば、あやしうこそものぐるほしけれ。

パリの地にて、オルセー美術館の扉開かざりしは、彼の国の名物なる「ストライキ」の故か。平等の精神より生まれし権利とはいえ、旅人の心を悲しませるものなり。されど、この不便さえも、その国の文化の一端と思えば、心穏やかになりぬ。

帰路にて、天より降りし災いの如く、イランよりイスラエルへ向けられし、ミサイルの矢の数々。我らが乗りし鳥も、急ぎて地に降り立つことを余儀なくされぬ。

思えば、この地球の上に生きる人々、皆同じ空の下にありながら、なお争いを止めず。一つしかないこの星に住まう我ら、いかにして手を取り合い、幸せに暮らす術を見出さんや。

日本の平和と言えども、真の平和とは世界すべてが安寧なる状態を指すものなり。我が国の安全も、世界の荒波の中にあってこそ、その尊さを知るべきものなり。

初めて異国の地を踏み、世界の現実に触れ、平和の尊さを身に染みて感じたり。この思い、忘れることなかれと、心に刻みぬ。

かくして、旅は終わりを告げしも、得たるものの大きさに、心満ちたるを覚ゆ。世界の波荒くとも、平和を願う心こそ、人の世の光なりと信じん。

“Waves of the World and the Preciousness of Peace” – A Modern Tsurezuregusa

As I sit idly by my inkstone, letting my brush wander aimlessly across the page, I find myself pondering the curious ways of the world.

In Paris, the closed doors of the Orsée Museum were perhaps due to the country’s famous “strikes.” Though born from the spirit of equality, it saddens the hearts of travelers. Yet, if one considers even this inconvenience as part of the country’s culture, the heart becomes serene.

On the return journey, like a calamity from the heavens, arrows from Iran aimed at Israel. Our flying bird, too, was forced to hastily descend to the ground.

Reflecting, I see that all people living on this Earth, though under the same sky, still do not cease their conflicts. We who dwell on this one and only planet, how might we find a way to join hands and live in happiness?

While we speak of peace in Japan, true peace refers to a state where the entire world is at ease. The safety of our country, too, is best understood when set against the rough waves of the world.

Setting foot in a foreign land for the first time, touching the reality of the world, I felt the preciousness of peace to my very core. I engrave in my heart that this feeling must never be forgotten.

Thus, though the journey has come to an end, I feel my heart full with the magnitude of what I have gained. Though the waves of the world may be rough, I believe that the heart wishing for peace is the light of human existence.
