ミラノの氷上で生まれた、あの神々しき抱擁の瞬間——7年の歳月、幾度の挫折と再起、どん底からの奇跡の逆転金メダル——すべてが凝縮された「二人の時間の結晶」。あの作品を描いた時の感動が、静かに別のインスピレーションへと姿を変えていきたり。
りくりゅうペアは、特別な存在だ。しかし——愛し合い、支え合い、ともに前を向いて歩むカップルは、この世界に無数に存在する。
そのすべての二人へ——。

Born as an homage to “Riku-Ryu — Embrace of Light,” this work fuses Mucha’s classical decorative beauty with reverence for Van Gogh’s sunflowers, giving form to a vow of love between two people — a testament to the evolving mastery of the Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass Technique.

Welcome to the creative world of Koki Masato.
Idly, as is my wont, I sit before my inkstone — and set down, without purpose or direction, the thoughts that drift through my heart. How strangely they consume me.
After completing “Riku-Ryu — Embrace of Light,” its lingering resonance continued to dwell within my chest for some time.
That divine moment of embrace born on the ice in Milan — seven years of time, repeated setbacks and recoveries, the miraculous gold medal reversal from the very depths of despair — all of it crystallized into “the crystallization of the time shared by two people.” The emotion I felt while creating that work quietly transformed itself into a new inspiration.
“Riku-Ryu” are a singular, irreplaceable existence. And yet — couples who love each other, support each other, and walk forward together exist in countless numbers across this world.
For every one of those two people —
When this feeling overflowed, two new figures were born within the world of “Neo-Japonesque Mucha.”
The First Work — “The Vow of the Sunflower”
Within a frame of gold, a dark-haired man and a red-haired woman quietly press their foreheads together.
Their eyes are closed. There are no words. And yet — in that single moment where forehead meets forehead, everything is spoken.
The man, wearing a deep teal kimono adorned with great sunflowers in full bloom, and the woman, dressed in a kimono radiant with sunflower gold — the golden arch that envelops them seems as though it wishes to seal this moment into eternity.
The language of the sunflower — “I look only at you,” “longing,” “adoration,” “passion,” “radiance.”
Like a sunflower that continues to bloom toward the sun — to gaze only upon one person, to bloom only toward one person — that pure and unwavering love dwells entirely within this single moment where two foreheads touch.
The Second Work — “The Purity of the White Lily”
Within deep blue mosaic, the same dark-haired and red-haired pair stand at the instant where their lips are about to touch — or perhaps have not yet quite touched.
This time, white lilies bloom throughout the background. Great white lilies reach upward from the feet of the two figures toward the heavens, their pure white petals opening as though to embrace them both.
The language of the white lily — “purity,” “innocence,” “dignity,” “nobility.”
An unsullied pure love, a deep trust of noble grace — when these are brought into harmony with the passion of the sunflower, the love of two people is elevated into something sacred.
If the first work is “a vow of passion,” then the second is “a prayer of purity.” The same two people — from the gold of sunflowers to the pure white of the lily — expressing through two works the two different faces of love.
These two works were born as an homage to the “Riku-Ryu” pair.
And yet, at the same time — to every person who loves someone at this very moment. To every person who is loved by someone. And to every young soul who has yet to encounter love —
May you be able to bloom, gazing only at one person, like the sunflower. May you be able to protect a love that is pure and noble, like the white lily.
That moment when two foreheads rest together — that instant when two faces draw close enough to touch — may that time become one of the most beautiful memories in the lives of two people.
May the future of every couple be filled with happiness.
This is the message I, as an artist, wish to send into the world.
I believe this is what “healing vibrations” truly means. Not the beauty of technique — but if, within the heart of someone who sees these works, a little courage to love is kindled. That is enough.
