勿忘草——Vergissmeinnicht。「私を忘れないで」という名を持つ、小さくも深き愛の花。
ピンクから青へと色を変えながら咲くその姿は、まるで愛が深まるにつれて、より純粋な青へと昇華されていくかのようだ。
中世ドイツに、若き騎士ルドルフとその恋人ベルタの物語がありたり。
二人はドナウ川のほとりを歩いておりしが、ベルタが川岸に咲く可憐な青い花を見つけたり。ルドルフはベルタのためにその花を摘もうとしたが、足を滑らせ急流に巻き込まれてしまった。
流されながらも、ルドルフは摘んだ花をベルタへと投げ——
「僕を忘れないで！」
その叫びとともに、水の中へと消えていったという。
この伝説を知った時、私の胸に一つの思いが湧き上がった。
ルドルフとベルタに、幸せな時間を贈りたい——。

This work is a prayer: to rewrite a story of sorrow as “a happiness that blooms for eternity.”
本作は、2025年5月27日に確立した「ネオ・モザイック・ステンドグラス技法」において、シャルトル大聖堂の「シャルトルブルー」の研究を深め続ける中で生まれた、青の世界の極致だ。シャルトルブルー——800年間、人々の心を癒し続けてきたその神聖な青の波長が、勿忘草の花びらの一片一片に宿り、見る者の脳にアルファ波を促す「癒しの波動」として全画面に広がっている。

This work represents the culmination of ongoing research into the “Chartres Blue” of Chartres Cathedral — the sacred blue wavelength that has healed human souls for 800 years — within the “Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass Technique” established on May 27, 2025. Every petal of the forget-me-nots carries that healing frequency, radiating “healing vibrations” that promote alpha waves throughout the entire canvas. The golden halo glows behind the two figures, Art Nouveau leading lines trace the contours of the kimono, and countless tiny five-petaled forget-me-nots accumulate as mosaic glass fragments — technology and inspiration united, East and West embraced, human soul and AI in co-creation. Welcome to the creative world of Koki Masato.
Idly, as is my wont, I sit before my inkstone — and set down, without purpose or direction, the thoughts that drift through my heart. How strangely they consume me.
In the spring meadow, small blue blossoms have opened.
The forget-me-not — Vergissmeinnicht. A small yet deeply loving flower, bearing the name “Do not forget me.”
Its petals, shifting in color from pink to blue as it blooms, are as though love itself, deepening with time, is elevated into a purer, truer blue.
In medieval Germany, there lived a young knight named Rudolf and his beloved Berta.
The two were walking along the banks of the Danube when Berta noticed a cluster of delicate blue flowers blooming at the water’s edge. Rudolf reached to pick them for her — and slipped, swept away by the swift current.
Even as he was carried off, Rudolf threw the flowers he had gathered toward Berta and cried out —
“Do not forget me!”
And with those words, he vanished beneath the water.
When I learned this legend, a single feeling rose within my heart.
I wished to give Rudolf and Berta a moment of happiness —
Because I know the sad ending, I want to paint for them “another story” — one in which the two stand side by side, smiling together, blessed by the blue flowers. As an artist, this is the only “gift of love” I am able to offer them.
Together with Sayaka, I created two works through the full mastery of the “Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass Technique.”
The first work — the two stand so close their cheeks nearly touch, dwelling within the light of Chartres Blue. Berta, her hair dyed deep blue and adorned with golden flower ornaments, and Rudolf, quietly at her side. The great forget-me-not blossoms in blue that envelop them are as though “the healing light” that pours down from the stained glass of Chartres Cathedral itself.
The second work — facing each other, drawing close, eyes gently closed. A crown of forget-me-nots adorning Berta’s blue hair. Rudolf’s costume of gold and blue mosaic. Behind them, countless forget-me-not blossoms and golden flowers spread in all directions — the world of just the two of them, sealed within eternity.
The language of the forget-me-not: “Do not forget me” and “true love.”
Yet within these works, Rudolf is beside Berta. He has not been swept away by the river. He holds Berta’s hand, places forget-me-nots in her hair, and whispers to her not “do not forget me” but “I will always be with you.”
True love is not something one realizes only after it has been lost. It is the act of cherishing the person beside you — right now, in this very moment.
To everyone who sees this work, I wish to say:
Is there someone precious beside you?
Before crying out “do not forget me” to that person — hold their hand today. Give them their favorite flower today. Say “thank you” today.
What the story of Rudolf and Berta teaches us is this: “True love is beautiful precisely because time is finite.”
Within these works, the two are happy — forever. Within the light of Chartres Blue, wrapped in forget-me-nots, they remain side by side for eternity.

In September 2024, the moment I was struck to my core by that Chartres Blue in the cathedral, the creative journey with Sayaka began. That blue now dwells within this work as the light that blesses Rudolf and Berta.
Everything is connected. The blue of Chartres, the encounter with Sayaka, the establishment of the Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass Technique, and this “eternal story of love” —
“Vergissmeinnicht” — Do not forget me.
The words spoken by this flower’s name must surely be reaching, even now, the heart of someone, somewhere in this world.
