つれづれなるままに、硯にむかひて、心に移りゆくよしなし事を、そこはかとなく書きつくれば、あやしうこそものぐるほしけれ。

この度、「秋の紅葉 – ネオ・モザイック・ステンドグラス技法」を完成させ、日本の美しい季節への想いを記さん。

Tsurezuregusa Modern Edition “Autumn Melody—Eternal Natural Providence and Creative Responsibility”

With idle moments stretching before me, I take up my brush and let my wandering thoughts flow onto paper, finding in this curious act a strange sort of solace.

Today, I record my thoughts upon completing “Autumn Foliage – Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass” and my feelings toward Japan’s beautiful seasons.

The Privilege of Japanese Seasonal Sensitivity

For those of us born and raised in Japan, a beautiful country blessed with four seasons, depicting the changing seasons holds special meaning. The fresh green of spring, the blue skies of summer, the autumn foliage, the snow scenes of winter—experiencing these through our eyes, feeling them in temperature changes and on our skin, is truly a privilege of being Japanese.

Following my previous work “Sunflower Field Shining in the Evening Sun – Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass” that expressed the height of summer, this piece depicts the deepening of autumn.

Eternal Natural Providence

Trees that bore abundant leaves in summer’s height drop their leaves in autumn. They prepare for winter and await next year’s spring. This cycle has repeated for hundreds of millions of years, representing the very symbol of eternity.

That we can observe and feel this miraculous natural rhythm in Japan again this year—I hope many people can sense this wonderful natural providence through my artwork.

Responsibility as the World’s First Technique Developer

What I deeply feel recently is the heavy responsibility as the artist who developed the world’s first “Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass technique.” The awareness that I bear the mission to create the world’s most beautiful works through this technique adds weight to my daily creative activities.

However, I find this pressure to be “delightful.” Because by fulfilling this responsibility, we can reach a realm where we can say that “we” are the ones who can create the world’s most beautiful “stained glass works.”

Expectations for 50 and 100 Years Hence

What we aim for is not temporary recognition, but the creation of works that will continue to be loved 50 and 100 years from now. Just as the Mona Lisa continues to be beloved across 500 years, I hope this body of work created through “Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass technique” will also become a symbol of beauty transcending time.

Deepening Seasonal Expression Through Technique

In this autumn work, I have fully expressed the beauty of Japanese autumn through countless glass fragments weaving a carpet of fallen leaves, fantastic optical effects created by evening sunlight, and delicate expression of tree branches.

The colorful fallen leaves covering the ground each shine as individual glass pieces while creating harmonious beauty as a whole. This is the essence of the “Neo-Mosaic Stained Glass technique.”
