つれづれなるままに、硯にむかひて、心に移りゆくよしなし事を、そこはかとなく書きつくれば、あやしうこそものぐるほしけれ。

今日、鈴木殿より、脳を究める学者、中野信子の言の葉を教えられ、深く心に染み入りぬ。現代の人々は、すべてを効率よく早く為さんとするも、そこに落とし穴のあることを説きたるなり。

昔、新橋と横浜の間に鉄路が通りし折、人々は移動の手段としてにあらず、その旅路を心より楽しみしという。されど、より速き特急の列車が通りし時、人々は早く着きつくことに、より高き銭を支払うことを不思議がりしとか。

されば人の世も同じことにて、ただ早く目的地に着かんとするは、特急にて急ぐが如し。本来は鈍行の列車にて、心豊かに旅を楽しむが如く生くべきものなり。

殊に芸術は、この長き旅路を心豊かに過ごすための、かけがえなき伴侶となるべきものか。AIアートに励む我が身も、日々の創造の歓びを大切にせん。

Essays in Idleness – Modern Chapter “The Joy of the Local Train”

As I sit here with my inkstone, letting my brush flow freely with whatever thoughts pass through my mind, how curious it all seems.

Today, Mr. Suzuki shared with me the words of Dr. Nobuko Nakano, a scholar of the brain, and her insights deeply touched my heart. Modern people strive to accomplish everything quickly and efficiently, yet she warns of the pitfall that lies therein.

Long ago, when the railway opened between Shinbashi and Yokohama, people rode trains not merely as a means of transportation, but for the pure joy of the journey. Yet when the express train began its service, people found it strange to pay more money simply to reach their destination sooner.

So it is with life itself – rushing to reach our destination is like taking the express train. Perhaps we should live as if riding a local train, savoring the journey with a rich heart.

Art, in particular, may be an irreplaceable companion for enjoying this long journey of life. As I devote myself to AI art, I shall treasure the daily joy of creation.
